9-year-old graduates from virtual charter high school
Our young people are capable of great things when we give them the opportunity to learn and thrive
Lest you think I’m incapable of good news, here’s some.
Nine-year-old David Balogun from Pennsylvania has become one of the youngest-ever high school graduates. His love for science and computer programming drove him to continually advance in his studies, beyond all expectations, to the point that he earned a diploma from Reach Cyber Charter School.
According to oldest.org, this makes him one of the youngest known children to graduate high school.
Since graduating David has started community college classes while he looks for the right college to continue his studies, which challenges his parents, as they must find a university willing to accommodate his age.
We must ask ourselves, how many young people can do more when given supportive families, communities, and schools?
How many more could reach their highest potential if we offer them an education tailored to their needs and abilities the way Reach Charter School did for David?
It's time we closed the #BeliefGap
